Isopod Premium Food – high-quality complete feed for isopods, springtails, and other invertebrates. Developed for isopod breeding boxes, starter cultures, and invertebrate enclosures where a natural, high-quality, and regularly available food source is desired.

Nature needs nature. That's why we rely on a carefully formulated plant-mineral natural blend with a visible structure. Plant fibers, fine herb and vegetable components, flower parts, algae, brewer's yeast, and natural algal lime create a food that doesn't appear artificially processed but fits perfectly into naturalistic isopod keeping.

The mixture is dry, can be sparingly dosed, and can be offered precisely at the feeding station. This works particularly cleanly in a suitable isopod dish, double isopod dish, or XL isopod dish. This keeps the feeding area tidy, and uneaten leftovers are easier to monitor.

For successful isopod keeping, food is just one component. Isopods also need appropriate humidity, structure, hiding places, leaves, wood, moss, and mineral components. Suitable additions can be found in the categories Food & Minerals for Invertebrates, Decor, Moss & Cork, and Invertebrate Accessories.

The food is delivered in a practical, resealable zip bag. A small wooden spoon for easy dosing is included.

Which animals is the Isopod Premium Food suitable for?
The food is intended as a complete feed for isopods, springtails, and other invertebrates. It is particularly useful in isopod breeding boxes, starter cultures, and invertebrate enclosures where a plant-mineral food base should be offered regularly. You can find suitable animals in our category Isopods.
What makes this mixture special?
The mixture deliberately retains a natural structure. Visible plant fibers and flower components provide a recognizable texture at the feeding station. This makes the food not appear artificially processed, but visually and functionally well suited for naturalistic isopod keeping with leaves, cork, moss, and white-rotted wood. Suitable natural materials can be found under Decor, Moss & Cork.
How is the food dosed?
The food should be offered sparingly. Place a small amount with the enclosed wooden spoon on a fixed feeding station, on bark, leaves, or in a small feeding dish. For a clean feeding area, the Isopod Dish, the Double Isopod Dish, or the XL Isopod Dish are suitable. The amount depends on the species, stocking density, humidity, and feeding behavior.
Offer dry or moistened?
Both are possible. The Isopod Premium Food can be offered dry or slightly moistened. In very humid enclosures, we recommend particularly sparse dosing and regular removal of uneaten leftovers.
How often should I offer the food?
As a guideline, the food can be offered several times a week in small quantities. In heavily stocked breeding boxes, feeding can be more frequent; for smaller setups, it should be proportionally sparser. The key is that no large food residues remain permanently.
Why is algal lime included?
Algal lime is a natural mineral component of the recipe. It supplements the plant-based mixture with calcium and fits well with a natural food base for isopods and other invertebrates. Further mineral products can be found in the category Food & Minerals for Invertebrates, for example Cuttlefish Bone Powder, Broken Cuttlefish Bone (Eco-Grade), or Cuttlefish Bone (Eco-Grade).
Do isopods still need leaves and wood in the enclosure?
Yes. Even with a complete feed, appropriate keeping conditions remain important. Leaves, white-rotted wood, suitable hiding places, and an appropriate moist zone are still essential for successful isopod keeping. For setting up a suitable environment, moss, cork, and other natural materials from the category Decor, Moss & Cork are suitable.
Which enclosure is suitable for keeping isopods?
For a clear overview of isopod keeping, well-ventilated enclosures with appropriate moist zones, structure, and clean feeding stations are suitable. A suitable selection can be found in the category Invertebrate Accessories. For an easy start, the food can be combined with a suitable enclosure, a feeding dish, leaves, moss, and mineral supply.
How do I store the Isopod Premium Food correctly?
Store the food dry, cool, and protected from light. The resealable zip bag helps keep the mixture clean. The bag should be sealed tightly after each use.
