You as the buyer bear the direct costs of returning the goods, unless otherwise agreed.

For which products does the right of withdrawal not apply?

In particular for goods that are made to your specifications or are clearly tailored to your personal needs. You can find further exceptions in the full withdrawal policy in the shop.

Live Animal Shipping: Isopods & Feeder Insects

When do you ship live animals?

Live animals (e.g. isopods and feeder insects) are only shipped on Mondays and Tuesdays. Before public holidays, we do not ship live animals so that parcels do not remain in the sorting center over several days.

What temperature rules apply to live animal shipping?

Below 0 °C we do not ship animals and will hold your order. Between 0 °C and 15 °C we only ship with frost/winter packaging. At around 25–30 °C we recommend using summer packaging. In case of extreme temperatures, shipping may be postponed or only take place after prior agreement.

Why is frost packaging mandatory?

Isopods and feeder insects are sensitive to cold. During the colder months, frost packaging with insulation and a heat pack is therefore mandatory to ensure that the animals arrive safely. If it is missing in an order containing sensitive animals, we will add it and ship after payment has been received.

To which countries do you ship live animals?

By default, we ship live animals within Germany. Shipping to other EU countries is possible after prior agreement, as regulations and delivery times may differ between countries.

Do you offer a live arrival guarantee?

We do not offer a general live arrival guarantee. We pack professionally and pay attention to suitable temperature windows and shipping days. If there are any issues, please contact us with photos and a brief description so we can review your individual case.

Magnetic Bowls

Are the magnetic bowls dishwasher-safe?

We recommend not cleaning the bowls in the dishwasher. The bowls are made of food-grade polypropylene, but the embedded magnets and their sealing can be damaged by heat and detergents. Gentle hand washing is the better option.

What is the best way to clean the bowls?

Clean the bowls with lukewarm water and a soft sponge. If food has dried on, you can soak the bowl briefly and then wipe it out.

Are the materials safe for my animals?

Yes. The bowls are made from food-grade PP. The magnets are sealed with food-grade resin. When used as intended, they are safe for your animals.

Can the magnets rust?

The magnets are fully encapsulated in resin and additionally zinc-coated. Under normal use, this protects them from rust.

Which bowl size is suitable for which geckos?

XS (double bowl, 2 × 0.75 ml): For raising small species such as Phelsuma or Lygodactylus, ideal for offering food and minerals at the same time.

S (approx. 1.1 ml): For Phelsuma and Lygodactylus in everyday use when you want to offer small, easy-to-monitor portions.

L (approx. 16 ml): For crested geckos and other larger or stronger species, e.g. for CGD portions or larger amounts of fruit puree.

Gecko Food & Minerals

What is Gecko Nutrition?

Gecko Nutrition is a specially developed complete food for fruit-eating geckos. It combines insects (e.g. black soldier fly larvae, mealworms, crickets) with fruits and plant-based ingredients and is supplemented with vitamins and minerals.

Which animals is Gecko Nutrition suitable for?

It is particularly suitable for crested geckos and other fruit-eating gecko species. Depending on the species, you can additionally offer live food to make the diet more varied.

How do I prepare Gecko Nutrition?

Mix one part powder with two parts water (by volume), stir well and let the mixture sit for a short time. The goal is a creamy consistency, similar to ketchup. If needed, you can adjust with a little more water.

How often should I feed Gecko Nutrition?

Depending on the animal and its feeding behaviour, you can offer Gecko Nutrition about two to three times per week in the evening. Any leftovers should be removed after no more than 24 hours.

How do I store the powder and prepared food?

Store the powder in a cool, dry place and keep the container tightly closed. Prepared food can be stored in the refrigerator and should be used within three to four days.

BioFaunaCube ©

What is the BioFaunaCube?

The BioFaunaCube is a modular terrarium system in three practical sizes. It offers a well-thought-out, flexible environment for various insects, isopods and spiders and is ideal if you want to optimize your setup and still stay flexible.

Which animals is the BioFaunaCube suitable for?

The BioFaunaCube is designed for different species of insects, isopods and spiders – for example isopods, jumping spiders, mantids and, depending on the size, also tarantulas.

Can I combine multiple BioFaunaCubes?

Yes. The cubes are stackable and connectable. Using the dedicated stacking parts and connection set, you can place several BioFaunaCubes on top of or next to each other to save space and expand your setup.

Which sizes are available and how do they differ?

Size S (21.8 × 15.2 × 18 cm, max. fill height 4 cm): Designed for isopods and other ground-dwelling insects. A large floor area with a low overall height for animals that do not need much vertical space.

Size M (15.2 × 15.2 × 24.5 cm, max. fill height 4 cm): For jumping spiders, mantids and similar species that benefit more from height than floor area – ideal for climbing animals.

Size L (20.2 × 20.2 × 28.5 cm, max. fill height 4 cm): Offers both generous floor space and height, e.g. for jumping spiders, tarantulas and mantids that are active on the ground and in the upper area.

How does the BioFaunaCube’s ventilation work?

The BioFaunaCube has all-round ventilation via all four posts. Rising warm air creates a natural draft so that fresh air is constantly drawn in. The openings are fine enough to keep Drosophila and other small feeder insects safely inside and to avoid stagnant moisture.

What kind of lighting is integrated?

The BioFaunaCube has integrated LED lighting. It evenly illuminates the terrarium and highlights the animals and setup. The LED has a colour temperature of 6500 K (daylight white) and, depending on the version, delivers around 145–185 lumens, a CRI above 90 and about 1.3–1.6 W.

Does the LED replace an additional heat source?

No. At a room temperature of around 22–23 °C, the LED only generates slightly higher temperatures directly around the lamp – for example approx. 29–31 °C right at the LED and around 24–26 °C just below it, decreasing further down. This local heat is not a replacement for a heater and cannot compensate for generally low room temperatures. If you need permanently higher temperatures, an additional heat source such as a heating mat is recommended.

What materials is the BioFaunaCube made of?

The BioFaunaCube is manufactured using 3D printing. Minor irregularities may occur due to the printing process but do not affect stability or function. Only the front panel is made of glass; the remaining panels are acrylic.

What is included in the delivery?

Each BioFaunaCube comes with:

– 1× BioFaunaCube

– 1× BioFaunaCube SYS set (for S: 3 hooks, 2 isopod bowls, 1 door stopper; for M & L: 2 bowls with hooks, 1 bowl, 3 hooks, 1 door stopper)

– 1× magnetic USB cable

– 1× instruction manual

Do I need an extra power adapter for the lighting?

Yes. A 5 V USB power adapter is required for the LED and is not included. In many cases you will already have a suitable adapter at home; otherwise you can find one in our shop.

Can I easily add accessories and equipment?

Yes. The BioFaunaCube SYS with its special posts allows you to attach accessories such as hooks, bowls and climbing aids in a flexible way. The lid also has a mount for the CritterLatch counterpart and other accessories, a two-part gland for cable routing and a convenient feeding flap so you can feed or spray without opening the whole terrarium.

Isopods

Why should I use isopods in the terrarium?

Isopods act as the “clean-up crew” on the terrarium floor. They eat food leftovers and dead plant material, reduce mold and loosen the substrate. They are particularly suitable for bioactive terrariums with a living substrate.

Can isopods also be used as food?

Yes, some species can also be used as food for other invertebrates or smaller reptiles. Which species is suitable for which purpose is stated in the respective product description.

Which terrariums are isopods suitable for?

Isopods are particularly suitable for tropical and bioactive terrariums where organic material regularly accumulates. It is important that humidity and temperature match the needs of the isopods and of the main animal.

Feeder Insects & Invertebrates

What can I find in the “Feeder Insects & Invertebrates” category?

Here you will find various feeder insects and other invertebrates that can be used as live food for reptiles, amphibians or invertebrates. The range may change over time; the species currently available are shown directly in the shop.

What is special about bean beetles?

Bean beetles are supplied as a starter culture in a cup with beans. At suitable temperatures they reproduce there on their own, so you have food available over a longer period of time. Many animals such as geckos, frogs, spiders or mantids readily accept them.

How do I feed bean beetles?

You can hold the cup directly in the terrarium or offer individual beans with beetles or larvae. This allows you to control exactly how much food you offer at a time.

How do I keep bean beetles until feeding?

Place the cup in a dry and warm spot, avoid direct moisture and mold, and add beans if needed. The warmer the culture (within the recommended range), the faster the beetles will reproduce.

Value Bundles

What are value bundles?

Value bundles are pre-configured sets that belong together thematically – for example “carefree” isopod bundles, cricket bundles, BioFaunaCube stacking bundles or bowl sets with matching holders. You save compared to buying the items individually and get a well-matched combination right away.

Does the selection of bundles change?

Yes. Depending on the season, new products or promotions, bundles may be added or removed. The bundles currently available can always be found in the “Value Bundles” category.

Terrarium Lifestyle

What can I find in the “Terrarium Lifestyle” category?

In this category you will find products that bring your hobby into everyday life – for example slate coasters with terrarium-themed designs and other lifestyle items related to reptiles and terrariums. The selection is continuously being expanded.
