Benefits at a Glance
- Complete Beginner's Guide to Isopod Keeping
- Box, Feeding Station & Accessories Combined
- For breeding cultures and soil policing
Isopod Starter Set – your complete introduction to isopod keeping, with no need to gather individual parts. You receive an 11-liter box with quadruple ventilation, plus substrate, humidity components, minerals, and a food & water station. All you need are isopods – then you can start right away.
Box Format, Stackability & Ventilation:
The box measures 37 × 26 × 14 cm (L × W × H), is stackable, and features quadruple ventilation for exceptionally good air circulation. Even when stacked, the isopods reliably receive fresh air. The ventilation grids are drosophila and fungus gnat proof – keeping the box cleanly ventilated without typical "small insects" becoming a problem.
What the Set is Designed For:
For a clean, stable isopod box with sensible humidity distribution and clear feeding areas. Everything is assembled so you don't have to "experiment": add substrate, create zones, moisten – add isopods.
What Each Component Provides:
– Forest Soil: Basic substrate for the box – maintains structure, supports a stable microclimate, and forms the basis for your substrate. Plus point: There is enough Forest Soil in the set to refresh the box later.
– Sphagnum Moss: for a reliable humidity zone ("humidity island"), allowing the animals to regulate themselves. Important: Moisten Sphagnum according to the instructions on the packaging before use.
– Food Leaves / Leaf Mulch (mixture): Top layer, structure, and natural food supply – plus hiding places in the terrarium setup. Approx. 750 ml included.
– Cuttlefish Bone Fragments: natural calcium source as a mineral spot (minerals are an important basic for many invertebrates). Approx. 250 ml included.
– Isopod Dish XL: defined feeding area – less food "scattered throughout the substrate."
– Insect Waterer Mini: simple water source that you can easily refill.
For suitable inhabitants and supplies, we also offer isopods, isopod premium food, food & minerals for invertebrates, and natural materials under setup, moss & cork.

Quick Guide: How to Set up the Starter Set
2) Add Forest Soil to the box.
3) Add some of the food leaves/leaf mulch and some of the moistened Sphagnum, and roughly mix in.
4) Mix in cuttlefish bone fragments as desired (some may remain visible). Optionally, coarsely crush.
5) On top: loosely distribute the remaining Sphagnum, remaining leaves, and some cuttlefish bone fragments.
6) Leave open spaces for the Isopod Dish XL and the Insect Waterer Mini.
7) Moisten everything appropriately (depending on isopod species/recommendation) – then introduce isopods.

Notes:
Natural products (substrate, moss, leaves, cuttlefish bone) can naturally vary in color, structure, and piece size.
The included 3D-printed parts (Insect Waterer Mini, Isopod Dish XL) are manufactured using a 3D printing process. We ensure high quality, but small imperfections or irregularities may occur due to the printing process. These do not affect the functionality or stability of the parts and do not constitute a defect. Each part is unique and reflects the influences of material and process.
