Benefits at a Glance
- Appropriate 1mm drill bit included
- Uniform 1 mm hole patterns
- A template for CritterCell S & L
CritterCell Universal Drilling Template – the smart drilling aid for additional side ventilation holes in the CritterCell S and CritterCell L. A single template is suitable for both CritterCell sizes and ensures straight, evenly spaced rows of holes.
The drilling template is simply placed on the appropriate CritterCell. The integrated guide holes predetermine the positions for the CritterCell S and CritterCell L. This means individual holes do not need to be measured, marked, or positioned freehand.
Depending on the species, keeping conditions, and desired ventilation, all intended openings or only individual holes can be drilled. The matching 1 mm drill bit is already included in the scope of delivery.
Overview of hole patterns:
– CritterCell S: 2 rows with 5 guide holes each
– CritterCell L: 4 rows with 13 guide holes each
– Even spacing of 5 mm between holes
– Drill bit diameter: 1 mm
Why keepers and breeders use the CritterCell Universal Drilling Template:
– One template for CritterCell S and CritterCell L
– Straight and evenly arranged ventilation holes
– No individual measuring or marking necessary
– Cleaner than freehand drilled rows of holes
– Additional side ventilation according to individual needs
– Individual or all intended openings can be used
– Reusable for multiple CritterCell containers
– Matching 1 mm drill bit already included
CritterCell S – two compact ventilation rows
For the CritterCell S, the universal drilling template has two rows with 5 guide holes each. This provides a total of 10 possible drilling positions.
The first drill row is located approx. 10 mm above the container bottom. The second drill row is located approx. 15 mm above the container bottom.
Depending on the desired air circulation, individual holes, a complete row, or both rows can be drilled.
Hole pattern for CritterCell S:
– 2 rows with 5 guide holes each
– A total of 10 possible drilling positions
– First row: approx. 10 mm above the container bottom
– Second row: approx. 15 mm above the container bottom
– Spacing between holes: 5 mm
– Drill bit diameter: 1 mm
CritterCell L – four ventilation rows with 13 holes each
For the CritterCell L, the universal drilling template has four rows with 13 guide holes each. This provides a total of 52 possible drilling positions.
The two lower rows are located approx. 10 mm and 15 mm above the container bottom. Two further rows are located approx. 40 mm and 45 mm above the container bottom.
This allows the additional side ventilation to be distributed over a larger area of the CritterCell L. Not all 52 openings need to be drilled. Depending on requirements, individual holes or selected rows can be used.
Hole pattern for CritterCell L:
– 4 rows with 13 guide holes each
– A total of 52 possible drilling positions
– First row: approx. 10 mm above the container bottom
– Second row: approx. 15 mm above the container bottom
– Third row: approx. 40 mm above the container bottom
– Fourth row: approx. 45 mm above the container bottom
– Spacing between holes: 5 mm
– Drill bit diameter: 1 mm
How the drilling template works:
The CritterCell is completely emptied, and the universal drilling template is placed in the designated position. Then, the drill rows intended for the respective CritterCell size are used.
The desired openings can be drilled directly and completely through the template and the container wall using the included 1 mm drill bit.
Alternatively, the positions can first be lightly pre-drilled. Then, the template is removed, and the marked holes are drilled completely through the wall of the CritterCell.
After drilling, all plastic shavings, possible burrs, and sharp edges must be completely removed. The CritterCell must be thoroughly cleaned and checked for damage before reuse.
Additional ventilation without losing the clean appearance
Additional ventilation holes are often drilled freehand in breeding boxes. This quickly results in crooked rows of holes, uneven spacing, or an improvised overall impression.
The CritterCell Universal Drilling Template ensures a consistent hole pattern suitable for the CritterCell S and CritterCell L. This allows the side ventilation to be individually expanded without unnecessarily affecting the clear and clean appearance of the CritterCell.
Scope of delivery:
– 1× CritterCell Universal Drilling Template for CritterCell S and L
– 1× Drill bit with 1 mm diameter
Important note:
This product only contains the CritterCell Universal Drilling Template and a 1 mm drill bit.
The template is intended for the CritterCell S and CritterCell L. Different drilling rows of the template are used for both sizes.
The CritterCell as well as a drill machine, a cordless screwdriver, or a suitable hand drill are additionally required.
Not included: CritterCell S or L, drill machine, cordless screwdriver, hand drill, safety glasses, or other tools.
Note:
The CritterCell S and CritterCell L already have a lid with a generous ventilation surface and a drosodicht ventilation grid. The universal drilling template is an optional extension for additional side ventilation openings.
Whether and how many additional openings are useful depends on the species, size, and behavior of the animal, as well as on the developmental stage, setup, location, humidity, and feed insects used.
Additional 1 mm drill holes can alter escape safety for very small animals or feed insects. Please check the modified CritterCell independently for its suitability and escape safety before each use.

The CritterCell Universal Drilling Template is manufactured using 3D printing in Germany. Small imperfections or visible material structures may occur due to production. These do not affect function or stability and do not constitute a defect.
Safety Instructions
This product is a drilling aid for terraristics and is intended exclusively for its designated use with the CritterCell S and CritterCell L.
Not a toy and not suitable for children. Store drilling template and drill bit out of reach of children. The included drill bit is sharp and can cause injuries.
Never drill the CritterCell while an animal, feeder insects, substrate, plants, or decor are inside. Empty the container completely before processing.
Wear appropriate eye protection when drilling and securely fix the CritterCell to prevent slipping. Work at a low speed and with light pressure. Excessive pressure can damage the container or cause cracks.
After drilling, completely remove all plastic shavings, burrs, and sharp edges. Then thoroughly clean the CritterCell and check for cracks or other damage.
Do not use damaged, cracked, or sharp-edged containers for animal keeping.
Additional openings change ventilation and can reduce humidity inside the CritterCell. The number of openings must be adapted to the respective animal species and keeping method.
The escape safety for very small animals and feeder insects must be checked independently after drilling. The suitability for the respective animal species, animal size, and keeping method is the responsibility of the keeper.
Regularly check the drilling template for cracks, sharp edges, breaks, deformations, or other damage. Do not continue to use damaged products.
3D printed parts may show visible layer lines and slight surface textures. This is due to the manufacturing process. Do not boil, do not microwave, do not clean in the dishwasher, and do not expose to prolonged direct heat, heating mats, heat lamps, or open flames.
Clean before first use and regularly thereafter. Clean only with water and, if necessary, mild detergent. Do not use aggressive cleaners or solvents.
