Sepia Cuttlebone Eco-Grade – natural & resource-saving – mixed sepia pieces as a natural calcium source for invertebrates such as isopods, millipedes & co. for the terrarium.
Broken sepia is the practical form if you want to offer minerals not just in one place: You can distribute the pieces in the terrarium setup and thus create several "mineral points". And because sepia is a natural product, not every piece looks the same. That's exactly what Eco-Grade is for: less sorting for appearance, more nature – full functionality.
What is Sepia?
Sepia (Cuttlebone) is the internal calcareous shell of the cuttlefish. In terraristics, it is used as a natural mineral source – primarily because of its high calcium content.
Why is sepia important for invertebrates?
Many invertebrates use minerals like calcium as a building block – e.g., for their shell/exoskeleton and growth. Sepia is provided in the terrarium as a "self-service" mineral source, so the animals can take what they need.
Why Eco-Grade makes sense:
– Natural: untreated, unpolished, genuinely natural product
– Resource-saving: less sorting = less waste
– Invertebrates don't care about appearance: what matters is that it's used
Application:
Simply place a few pieces in the terrarium or offer them separately as a mineral source. Replenish as needed. If soiled, you can easily rinse the pieces and reuse them.
Eco-Grade Note (important):
Natural mix means: varying piece sizes, colors, and textures. Natural discolorations, patinas, broken edges, and visual deviations are normal and intended – not a quality defect in function.
Composition:
100% Sepia shell (natural product)
Analytical constituents:
Crude ash 92 %
of which calcium 41 %
Moisture 8 %
Contents:
Net quantity: 100 g
