HabiStat Compressed Leaf Litter – compressed leaf litter for terrariums, ideal as a natural top layer, retreat area and structural material for bioactive terrariums, isopod boxes and invertebrate terrarium setups.

Leaf litter is not a decorative gimmick, but a really useful basic material in the terrarium. It creates surface area, hiding places and a more natural environment – especially for isopods, springtails, millipedes and other soil dwellers. Thanks to its compressed form, the leaf litter is packaged space-savingly and can be easily prepared and placed in the terrarium as needed.

Why leaf litter is useful in the terrarium:
Natural top layer: protects the substrate and makes the terrarium appear less "bare"
Retreat areas: isopods, springtails & co. can hide and move underneath
Structure in the substrate: adds surface area and natural zones to the terrarium
Bioactive suitable: ideal as an addition for terrarium setups with microfauna
Space-saving: compressed/pressed and thus practical to store

Typical areas of application:
– Top layer in isopod boxes and invertebrate boxes
– Supplement for bioactive terrariums
– Structural material under bark, cork or moss
– Retreat and walking area for soil dwellers
– Supplement to substrates such as Forest Soil, Tropic- or Forest mixtures

Application:
Prepare the compressed leaf litter according to the manufacturer's instructions. Then spread it loosely on the substrate or use it specifically in certain areas – e.g. under cork, around damper zones or as a natural top layer over the substrate.

Practical Tip: Do not spread leaf litter completely "flat". Apply loosely and leave it a little higher in places – this creates small retreat areas under cork pieces or moss, which isopods and microfauna like to use.

Scope of delivery:
– 1× HabiStat Compressed Leaf Litter

Notes:
Natural product – color, structure, leaf size and composition may vary due to natural factors. Prepare according to manufacturer's instructions before use. Not suitable for human consumption.

For successful keeping, the material can be combined well with suitable isopods, food & minerals for invertebrates and other accessories from furnishings, moss & cork.

What is leaf litter good for in a terrarium?
Leaf litter serves as a natural top layer, structural material and retreat area. Especially in bioactive terrariums and isopod boxes, it helps to make the substrate area more natural and usable.
Is leaf litter suitable for isopods?
Yes, leaf litter is very useful for isopod boxes. It provides structure, hiding places and a natural surface on which isopods can move and retreat well.
How do I use compressed leaf litter correctly?
Prepare the compressed leaf litter according to the manufacturer's instructions and then spread it loosely on the substrate. You can use it over a large area or place it specifically under cork, bark or moss.
Can I combine leaf litter with sphagnum or substrate?
Yes. Leaf litter goes very well with substrate, sphagnum, cork and other natural terrarium materials. A combination of substrate at the bottom, leaf litter at the top and a separate humid zone is particularly practical.
Why is the leaf litter compressed?
The compressed form saves space during storage and shipping. Before use, the leaf litter is prepared according to the manufacturer's instructions and can then be spread loosely in the terrarium.
